STRATEGIC EXPLORATION
AND
THE IMPLICATIONS WHEEL

STRATEGIC EXPLORATION is the visionary leadership skill of scouting the future and identifying the implications or consequences of actions before they happen.  Strategic exploration provides leaders with enhanced information for decision making or strategic planning, it DOES NOT PRODUCE A STRATEGIC PLAN.

IMPLICATIONS WHEEL (I-Wheel): A software-based tool designed to aid in the strategic exploration process.

POTENTIAL APPLICATION OF THE STRATEGIC EXPLORATION PROCESS

  • Exploring any issue or trends (predicted or already begun)

  • Events (already happened or expected)

  • Innovations (new ideas)

  • Policy Changes or New Policies (What are we getting ourselves into …)

  • Any Change (What if …)

  • Goals (What if …)
